Let's see several ways of using cruise
0:02
control for different rendition of the
0:05
same scene.
0:06
We can depict this village on the east
0:08
coast of Sicily by simply advancing
0:10
toward it at a constant speed,
0:13
activating cruise control. We can also
0:16
add manual changes of elevation and
0:18
gimbal rotations.
0:21
It can be useful as an establishing
0:23
shot, but we might prefer a more dynamic
0:25
approach. We can make things more
0:28
interesting by modifying the angle of
0:30
view. We are still advancing at a
0:32
constant speed using cruise control, but
0:35
this time we are including two other
0:37
villages with some nice base and a
0:39
couple of small volcanic islands.
0:42
Now we know more about the surroundings.
0:46
Then we can introduce some extra moves.
0:49
Starting with a view of the same
0:50
village. The aircraft will move
0:53
diagonally to the right and slightly
0:55
forward and the camera will rotate
0:57
slowly to the left to maintain the
0:59
normal castle in the middle of the
1:01
frame. We activate cruise control for
1:04
progressively revealing the other base
1:06
and villages thus adding an element of
1:09
surprise.
1:15
Now I make a similar diagonal move but
1:17
this time at a higher speed and I slowly
1:20
lower the altitude while the camera
1:22
rotates to maintain the normal castle as
1:24
a target.
1:27
I activate cruise control to combine all
1:29
these moves.
1:32
Notice the interesting parallax effect
1:34
with the elements on different layers in
1:36
background rotating at different speed.
1:41
To make the move even more dynamic, it
1:43
is possible to use the left wheel of the
1:45
controller to apply some digital zoom.
1:50
Let's do the same cruise control move as
1:52
before, but this time starting with a
1:54
deep zoom on the normal castle.
1:59
During the move, we use the wheel to
2:01
zoom out back to 100% progressively.
2:06
The zooming out makes the movement even
2:09
more dynamic.
2:16
We can also do the opposite. This time
2:18
starting without zoom and progressively
2:21
zooming to 100%.
2:24
It would be very hard to perform
2:26
smoothly all these moves manually.
2:28
However, by using cruise control, we can
2:31
focus only on the wheel of the zoom for
2:34
flawless results.
