0:01
The compass keeps track of the position
0:03
of the drone and the home point.
0:06
If it is not calibrated properly, the
0:09
drone may fly erratically or crash.
0:13
It also plays an important role in the
0:15
case of a return to home.
0:18
We calibrate it only when prompted by
0:20
the app or when we have not used the
0:22
drone for a long time.
0:26
The procedure is simple. In the top
0:28
safety of the settings, we find the
0:30
option for the compass calibration just
0:32
above the one for the IMU.
0:37
Like before, we choose an area free from
0:40
metal and magnetic fields.
0:42
Notice that the calibration might fail
0:44
in low light.
0:47
The aircraft must be held at a height of
0:49
about 1.5 m or 5t from the ground, which
0:54
for most people is at shoulder height.
0:58
After hitting the start button, simply
1:01
follow the instruction on the screen.
1:04
First, rotate the drone 360°
1:07
horizontally.
1:09
Then, turn it to a vertical position and
1:12
do the same.
1:18
The maneuver can be accomplished by
1:20
simply rotating the hand holding the
1:22
aircraft. No need to perform complex
1:25
circular dances or other dangerous
1:28
acrobatics.
1:33
A prompt on the screen will show the
1:34
result. In case of failure, try again
1:38
farther away from interferences.
